Welcome to Knightswood Lodge B&B!

Located at Franz Josef Glacier on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand, Knightswood Lodge is just 3 km south of Franz Josef village. Our Bed and Breakfast/Countrystay accommodation sits nestled amongst 24 acres of native rain forest and pasture. Knightswood is home to a wide variety of native birds - tuis, fantails, bellbirds, wood pigeons, pukekos and keas which can be seen and heard around the house. It is a quiet haven for those needing time to relax, listen to the bird life, and admire the stunning alpine and forest views.

The Franz Josef Glacier is 12 km long and located in a designated World Heritage Site. The glacier descends from high in the Southern Alps to just 240 metres above sea level, terminating in the greenery and lushness of West Coast temperate rainforest. Each year 250,00 people visit Franz Josef and the surrounding area.

Your host Gerry was a local helicopter pilot who has flown internationally and  in Antarctica for many seasons. Gerry was previously a wildlife ranger and has a keen interest in conservation, native flora and fauna, geology, and photography. If you are interested, Gerry can take you for a free interpretive guided walk through the native rain forest at Knightswood Lodge.
